Actually the headline should read "Fix the economy with fake aliens!" Here is a snippet of what I'm on about via the Huffington Post:
HuffPo wrote:
"Paul Krugman is so frustrated by the lack of support for another round of stimulus spending that he's now calling for a fake alien invasion of the United States to spur a World War II-style defense buildup.
"If we discovered that, you know, space aliens were planning to attack and we needed a massive buildup to counter the space alien threat and really inflation and budget deficits took secondary place to that, this slump would be over in 18 months," he said. "And then if we discovered, oops, we made a mistake, there aren't any aliens, we'd be better--"

Now if you are unfamiliar with Paul Krugman or are curious here is his wiki entry.
So what do you make of this??? Didn't Ronald Reagan say something similar in the 1980's as did Lester Pearson two decades before that?
The other two seemed to be referring to an actual "alien invasion" and not a "fake" one.
I'm not so certain what to make of Mr Krugman's ideas fake aliens or real ones, but I am certain this will get conspiracy theories going. ![]()
