    Some Thoughts On Ouija Boards

I was pleasantly surprised to discover that a reference was made and a link was given to my article on the Philip experiments in an article entitled Ouija Board: Conduit of Evil or Belief? that is featured in ParaNexus. Its an interesting article and I recommend giving it a read along with exploring the rest of the ParaNexus site.

I've discussed my own thoughts on Ouija boards within this blog before, and in a nutshell I really do not think there is anything magical or special about them. I tend to agree with what my friend and colleague Elvis of The Shadows Project has to say about them:

"Ouija boards are made out of crafting supplies. They posses no additional powers except for whatever powers are within the elements that make up the materials themselves."

However, the Ouija is well recognised by most people and featured in numerous works of fiction and horror films so that its appearance alone can produce negative psychological effects particularly as people tend to use them in darkened rooms with candles etc creating a "spooky" atmosphere. Therefore I ALWAYS strongly recommend to already possibly frightened witnesses to not pursue communication or interaction by using these devices because it does tend to stir things up, real or imagined, something for which they may not be mentally or emotionally prepared for, not to mention potentially upsetting to others they live with.

LaurelI had an experience with the Ouija board from the time I was 7 til I was 11 as I would use it by myself. I have alot of experience with this I was in communication with two spirits particularly with one but wconnected with Patience Worth who came to me and my friend gave us information about her earthly life. At the time I had no idea who Patiencw Worth was til years later coming across a book called The Case of Patience Worth at a library sale. I feel I should have been interested after reading the book but at the time I was 11 years old and knew nothing of the case. I spent all my time in communion with another spirit. It went from the board to picturing the board in my mind where I no longer needed the board anymore to actually hearing the spirit speak in my mind. I was a very bright well adjusted child did well in school etc. I had to ask the Lord to make this one spirit go away because after many years of friendship actually a love affair I realized it was evil as it started to try to control me.I even seemed to acquire unusual abilities while entertaining this spirit who taught me alot about himself. It was able to predict future events and make things happen that would not be possible. This spirit did not lie to me and I used to sit in silence with a dictionary while it spoke to me via the board and used words so big I had to have a dictionary to understand the big words as I was only 7. It was quite a toy for a 7 year old. After my praying to remove this spirit I have never touched a Quija board since. I used to feel power going through my hands and the board would rock to and fro at times . I asked this spirit who Jehovah was as I had never heard this name for God where the board told me it was God. I realize now after seeing the Hebrew language that this spirit used to speak in Hebrew when I would first ask it a question and I used to get mad and tell it to speak in English. It would actually pause as if thinking before using Engligh but later on when I could hear a voice mentally it spoke English. Ouija boards are definately nothing for a child to play with. You are right it is not the actual board that is made of wood but to me there are good and bad spirits and it just depends what you get.

Brian D. ParsonsIt's unfortunate that the Ouija board is so feared (and so misunderstood). It's the 21st century and we still have superstitious beliefs surrounding items of supernatural power. OK, so we still bury our dead, carry rabbits feet for good luck, and believe that breaking a mirror causes bad luck (all of these date very far back in history). Hopefully the paranormal field will pull away from many of the superstitious and folkloric beliefs that keep it from being a legitimate science. Thanks for the mention of my article and thank you for the reference to the Philip experiment!
