A student from Humber recently asked us:
"What do you think local paranormal activity can tell you about the history of a place?"
And we thought we'd share our answer here as well.
Ghosts are always assumed to represent people from the past... and as such, ghost stories are one of the last lingering bits of folkloric "spoken-word" histories that exist in our modern world. Often, the history is muddied by the legends... but that's part of the fun for us... and doesn't remove any of the enjoyment... We love hearing the legends and then seeing if recorded history jives with it.
We find people genuinely like to hear both as a rule... and enjoy hearing when things got a "bit wrong" in these spoken-word histories.
To do this study justice, a good investigator should be familiar with both the "legends" and the history in our opinion.
