Freaky Friday - Schefferville Le Guest House

Each Friday we will have a look at the stories and experiences that have been related to us over the years that are amongst our personal favourites. These will include Crypto, Ghosts, Hauntings, UFO's, and other strange events that may be considered Fortean, from in around the Toronto, Canada area .... and since they are from our own personal files will likely not be found elsewhere on the web .... enjoy!

Schefferville is a small village with a population of around 200 located in Northern Quebec, just 2 km from the Labrador border. Amongst the landmark buildings of the village is Le Guest House. Situated on the shores of Knob Lake, Le Guest House is a hotel many claim to be haunted.

On September 7 1959, then Quebec premier, Maurice Duplessis, died at Le Guest House, where he had been staying on a fishing trip. Since then, he is believed to be haunting the hotel.

Guests have reported the apparition of a man by the foot of their bed, strange sounds and other poltergeist activity.

Does Maurice Duplessis, a controversial figure in life, still haunt the location of his death, some 50 years after the fact?

Our thanks to Stu Finlay and ParaResearchers of Quebec for the above report. If this story sounds familiar, you have information you can add or if you have had similar experiences please do contact us. Your privacy will be protected.

1 experience was around 8 or 9 years old, I woke up and felt an overwhelming presence over me. I could see a figure in my head, it was like a green haired witch hovering over me. the worst thing was i had to pee, needless to say i didn't make it to the bathroom in time. Or this other time i was at this bridge and heard a voice say "i didn't think anyone would hear us"

That lodge looks too picture perfect to be haunted. But I guess you can't judge anything by its cover...

Ria -> Very true. Many of our reports come from modern, well kept buildings. :)

My father and mother where managing the Guest House in Schefferville and I was also living there. I was 14 years old at the time and witnessed Duplessis's stroke and after a few days his death. I can assure you that for the next five years after his death I or my parents did not encounter para normal activity. Sorry this does not help to prove the haunting at that time but I suppose you want the thruth in this comment.
