Freaky Friday - Sir Sandford Fleming College

Each Friday we will have a look at the stories and experiences that have been related to us over the years that are amongst our personal favourites. These will include Crypto, Ghosts, Hauntings, UFO's, and other strange events that may be considered Fortean, from in around the Toronto, Canada area .... and since they are from our own personal files will likely not be found elsewhere on the web .... enjoy!

Sir Sandford Fleming College - Peterborough, Ontario, Canada

I live in the Durham region and used to attend Sir Sanford Fleming College in Peterborough. I spent 15 months there, starting in April 94, going year round completing a diploma in Law and Security administration.

One of the young men in the semester ahead of me worked part time in the college as a night security guard, as many students try to gain experience in this area before heading out to police forces etc., and told me and several other classmates of mysterious noises and feelings sometimes occurring in the old center part of the college. He always was alone in the college, having previously patrolled the building. He stated that he often heard people walking in the halls very late in the evening or during the middle of the night. He said that there were two distinct types, one normal with heavy boots or shoes and a second with a cane and a bit of a limp. He said on one occasion he saw part of an apparition, or I should say only 1/2 the body. One part of the school he refused to patrol in the evening because of the frequency of the sounds and ghost.

Most of his classmates and mine laughed at his stories but I myself have heard footsteps following behind me in the old part of the building as I walked through the basement hallway. And i have felt cold spots, and the hairs of my neck standing straight up suddenly, and total absolute blinding fear, for no reason. (I do NOT scare easily, and am a very bold person). I thought I was the only one to have these encounters until the other student spoke about them.

Our thanks to the witness for sharing this report with us. Does this report sound familiar? Do you have a similar experience at this location that you would like to share? If so, we would like to hear from you. Please send your submission to submissions AT torontoghosts.org
