The Hope Diamond

Was the Hope Diamond really cursed?????

The Hope Diamond would never be considered wholesale fashion jewelry, but to be honest I certainly would prefer the latter if the stories of a curse are true! Divorce, bankruptcy, and death have all been blamed on this rock.

Evalyn Walsh McLean a former owner (pictured above) certainly believed in this unique stone's curse. However, since the diamond was put in the care of the Smithsonian Institute, there have been no unusual incidents related to it.

What do you think? Can an inanimate object really carry a curse that could affect all those that possess it?

"Cursed objects" and tales of cursed objects have been around for many thousands of years. One can easily accept that them within the realms of possibilty. As far as the Hope Diamond and its curse, perhaps the curse can only be effective when someone actually wears it.

sguyot -> Thank you! And I did not think of it that way before. Perhaps one does need to wear it, and for research purposes I offer myself up to do it!!! :)
