While surfing around the blogosphere this past week I came across this rather pathetic image. I was able to track down the blog that originally hosted it, and images such as this one may be used by other bloggers if proper credit is given. Here is the link for the image credit.

I had no idea who the person was that is depicted in the image, but after a little sleuthing, I found out it was a politician from The United States (a Democrat) who was being mocked on various extremist right-wing blogs who displayed the image. Apparently, at a debate, he admitted to being a UFO witness... and in my opinion, kudos to him for being brave enough to come forward... like Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Carter did about their sightings.

My beef with this has nothing to do with US politics (as I'm a Canadian so it doesn't really affect me all that much,) but this smackdown has everything to do with the fact that it implies that UFO witnesses are "woo woos." The image file name not changed from when I grabbed it is "crazy man." Pretty much says it all in regards to its creators thoughts towards UFO witnesses.

What I find disgusting in this is that if this is a cheap shot at a politician from a rival party why use UFOs? It demeans ALL UFO witnesses including thousands of Republicans (right-wing) voters who have reported UFO sightings in the past. And I can assure I personally know of a two. Guess they are loons too eh!

UFO witnesses come from all walks of life, different socio-economic groups, different political beliefs, all levels of education, differing cultures, ages, etc. I have taken UFO reports from pilots, police officers, firemen, doctors, and even military personnel (one currently serving in your USA Navy). Images like this one hurt them all. And clearly demonstrates the complete ignorance to the topic of unidentified flying objects by those who find it appropriate to attack their rivals with it, as opposed to adult debate of the issues.

Pathetic.....and very harmful...not to the poor schlep who is being made fun of either...at least not to the extent that images such as these, which add to the "Giggle Factor" harms people who might have seen something unusual in the sky, and now question their sanity, or will clam up, and be afraid to report what they have seen for fear of being ridiculed.
