Psychic Or Con Artist?

I came across this video clip of a Geraldo show about Harvard trained psychologist Dr. Gary Schwartz. I'm going to let you gentle readers watch it, and formulate your opinion. I do not know Dr. Schwartz, have had no dealings with him, and in fact must admit that this is the first I heard of him .... but what has been presented in my opinion does not look good.

Any thoughts? Comments?

This is a deeply malicious and unacceptable one-sided piece of media propaganda, a long string of personal attacks against Dr. Gary Schwartz and the University of Arizona. It seems apparent that there are people out there who wish to stop afterlife research at this university (and, for that matter PERIOD), and are going to extreme lengths to do it. Gerardo has a long-standing reputation for sensationalism rather than presenting substance and facts, and I think this clip demonstrates that clearly. The story created here is quite non-sensical, and at best is based on a misunderstanding.

Please review Dr. Schwartz's response at http://www.drgaryschwartz.com/mainpage.htm

Take the hype with a massive grain of salt, folks. This particular research project is high profile and thus has endured nasty criticism far greater and outrageous than most research projects would ever encounter, perhaps since it has used well-known psychics (and media personalities) including Laurie Campbell, Allison Dubois and John Edwards. The whole project has been very politically-charged, especially with allegations that Dr. Schwartz is cashing in on these psychics' reputations. Might this also be the result of a misunderstanding? I don't know personally, but I would think that it is all under review at the University of Arizona.

I have read Dr. Schwartz's books and of the VERITAS program, and I think there is great value in what has been done. No matter the politics, the University of Arizona is making a wonderful contribution to humanity in continuing this research. It is important work. Beyond the politics and criticism are glimpses into possibilities of gaining a greater understanding of the unseen world.

Should this mess continue, let us hope that there are media people out there who can present a balanced account. It should be left to the legal realm to determine what has happened, not slanderous reporting. Beware of Gerardo and Fox News!
