    Sometimes Sunday Smackdowns Write Themselves.......

.....and when they do they just make the lives of your blog hosts that much easier....hey it's Sunday...of a long weekend here in Canada. To be totally honest with you, as much as we love you all ... we'd rather be at the beach than sitting indoors, and ranting on the blog....so we picked a very easy topic to get you going.

We knew you'd understand, and now without further delay here's the smack:

In his own words, Jose Antonio Fortea, Roman Catholic exorcist, taken from an interview with Spero News:

Question: What importance do you attach to the August 2007 meeting in Poland of exorcists? Is there a greater interest in the practice of exorcism on the part of the clergy or is there a greater number of possessed?

FORTEA: The ministry of exorcism has spread widely over the last twenty years because the practice of magic has grown in the United States and Europe. This is true even though magic may bear attractive names such as “New Age”.

Ummm hello???? Yes, New Agers, Pagans, Witches etc always invoke the Christian Devil (that they DO NOT believe exists) when practising their faiths.

As our friend Chris Laursen so aptly put it upon reading the above: "Eeeeek! With all due respect, that mirrors age-old tactics to suppress individual freedom to practice whatever belief they choose."

    Yep! We agree Chris!

Now we are off to the beach! Have a great week ahead!

AndreaBy that philosophy, anyone who uses a quija board or does a seance could be responsible too.

In the past, preachers and priests practiced black magic. Maybe some of that "evil" is lingering around and if that's true then his faith is to blame as well.

The way I see it is if they aren't hurting anyone or breaking any laws, let them practice whatever they want.

SueAndrea -> Agreed! If you look at the history of the Popes themselves (the name Borgia immediately springs to mind) they are in no place to be casting stones. There is good and bad in EVERY faith and non-faith.
