Firstly, and right off the top there is NO such thing as an accredited Ghost Hunter Certification! Therefore this news item caught my attention:
From The Enquirer:
Don't be scared - it's just ghostbusting school. The ParAcademy is hosting its first-ever Paranormal Retreat and Ghost Hunting Certification Weekend at General Butler State Park Sept. 28 and 29.
Starr and Jessi Chaney of PsyTech, a paranormal investigating team based in Nicholasville, launched the program to assist those wishing to become certified as ghost hunters.
These two bill themselves as "the foremost Mother-Daughter Ghost Hunting team on the internet," and this is the first I have heard of them.
Frankly I have no problem with them hosting seminars, but "ghost hunting certification." Again there is no accredited certification for ghost research & investigation. In fact anyone can do it!
Before you open your wallets for a piece of paper that in reality most likely was printed from someone's home computer for about 25 cents please do your homework, and ask the hard questions such as what are, and where did they receive their qualifications? Remember they do not list themselves as obtaining degrees in parapsychology from the University of Edinburgh or the handful of other accredited institutions of higher education that do offer parapsychology as a major. And even if they had there is no process for an actual certification because it simply does not exist.
Yesterday we smacked a group that took to task a TV show personality, and launched an IRS investigation. Perhaps they would better serve the public by looking into those selling "Ghost Hunter Certification."
