You know it can be hard to get all riled up when the sun is shining, and the temps are glorious ... we almost figured there would be no smack this week, until .....
I came across some local meet-up/hook-up group with an unfortunate acronym that produces fits of giggles. On a message type forum they had listed Chris' Psychometry Experiment information with much apologies for listing another group's work, and efforts. Apologise?!
Firstly PSICAN is not, and never has been "another" meet-up, hook-up, nor dating site, or paranormal petting zoo for that matter.
ALL of our members/volunteers must understand our methods thoroughly, pass an exam, and go through a vigorous background screening for the safety, and protection of our witnesses, and other group members. We consider ourselves to be an educational, and research organisation.
However, on the PSICAN message forums we do provide for non-PSICAN groups an area where they can post their events etc, provided their information is not solely for profit such as an ad for a psychic for hire, and provides some free content to the reader.
This to me seems good form, and should we not be attempting to help one another out?
This apology for daring to mention our group in my mind is akin to the rant on those who refuse to list sources, as if they exist in a bubble, and there is no one else out there studying the paranormal besides themselves either in the past or currently.
Again comparing what they are doing with what we do is like a comparison of apples to a Buick ... we are completely different in what I can see, therefore whatever need there was to apologise seems silly in my own opinion, and is hopefully not a reflection on the site's administrators who did leave the post online.
MEA CULPA Sunday 11:50am ....
Ooops .... the post in question had nothing to do with Chris' experiment at all! Too much sun to the head this weekend perhaps ... BUT the sentiment in general is still accurate in my opinion.
