Wordless Wednesday - Necromancy

Necromancy is defined as the raising of the images of the dead, considered in antiquity and by modern occultists as a practice of Black Magic. Not to be entertained lightly!

Edward Kelly a magician reportedly worked with the famed alchemist John Dee.

Happy Wordless Wednesday, and thank you for stopping by!

Love this image, I was talking about John Dee the other day. There are some tools of his in the British Museum.

Why would you want to raise the dead? Imagine how boring their conversation would be..

I really like that photo. If the dead want to speak, I think they'll do so on their own!

Ah... one of my pet topics, Dr Dee and friends.

The scrying mirror kelly and dee used is in the museum, it supposed to be "aztec" and made of obsidian.

Scying is something worth a look, even if it has fallen out of favour.

must dash, keep up the good work

Fascinating and an incredible note in history. I'm always surprised engravings (which I think this is, but am probably wrong) like this have survived some darker parts of our history.

Interesting picture. I noticed you said "image" of the dead, does that mean it would only be a projection?
