Yes Virginia, There is An After-life .....

    Is there an after-life?

    What are your thoughts?

I consider myself an Agnostic, but over the years of studying ghosts & hauntings with a hopefully rational outlook I find myself more often than not saying, "Yes, I do believe in some sort of an after-life."

    So what do you think?

    Death

    Ghosts

    Angels/Demons

    Reincarnation

    Nothing .....

What happens to us when we die?

We'll be very interested in your comments. Please include your country of origin.

    Cheers!
    Sue

Matt C.I feel most comfortable in the firm belief that I have no clue what happens. However, I have grave doubts in death being nothing more than maggots and humus.

I tend to lean towards reincarnation or, at the very least, a continuation of the soul after death in some form.

allanI have studied and tasted many different spiritual views, but I returned to where I started - the simple basics of Christianity.

A loving God that wants a relationship with us

Our having free choice - and the right to screw up that is entailed in choice

Angels as real creations by God, some of whom rebelled and are known as demons

And a whole lot of things that are beyond our understanding.

    Best to ya,

    Allan

Two CentsI don't believe that there is. Then again, I'm an atheist. In my view, your given life, cherish it, for when it's gone, it's gone. Two Cents

floydI believe in God and have read in the Bible where it says; The soul goes back to God who gave it.
Having said this I believe that we are not just creatures on a planet but we have purpose, we have energy which is known as the soul and that which can not be destroyed it only changes form.

DawnI believe that the soul lives on. I like to think that heaven will be what we want it to be. However, I'm not really sure what to expect.

I never believed that the dead could come back to visit the living, ie, ghosts and the like. But a large number of experiences that I've had over the past 10+ years and can't explain logically have me re-thinking that stance.

JillReligious beliefs not withstanding, I think many of us question the afterlife. Afterall we are taught in church that we can go to heaven. Some think there is a hell, too. But if Jesus forgave us all, should we all go to heaven? I hope there is one. But that leads to other questions. Isn't it crowded there? How come no one has ever come back here to say how great it is? Then again there is the question left in my mind by evangelicals when they say after the Rapture, etc God will come and will set up and rule the world for 1,000 years. Then what?

AngelI believe in all of the above and am certain all of the above are possible... although I'm not sure how it works out that some become angels and some become ghosts and some just turn into whole new people. Plus I believe in Heaven, although I'm not sure I believe in Hell. I saw a ghost in my closet once. Plus me and my little brother saw a shoe tap in that same closet while we were playing. My brother says he can feel ghosts and he thinks there's still one in that room. I can feel it too sometimes but it makes me wanna puke so I try to think of other things... crazy huh?

We're All DeadWhen we die we get judged for the life we led and how we led it.

Then the decision comes whether to throw in hell or ascend to heaven.

Just because you don't want to believe doesn't mean it won't exist.

FaithI've also played with a few different belief systems. I keep coming back to a basic Christian belief. Heaven and Hell along with God, Angels, Demons and Satan are real. I don't however completely agree with the Church. I don't believe that you have to go to Church to have a personal relationship with God.

Oh and I've gotten off topic. Basically I believe in Heaven and Hell as the afterlife. Don't know how ghosts fit in there; but I do believe in ghosts. Had way too many personal experiences to not believe.

Great blog. If it's ok I'd like to put a link to it on my blog. Please e-mail me and let me know.

Eko PrasetyoI am a muslim, and as a muslim I believe that there are two worlds one soul must endure in afterlife: 1. The Graveworld: The one world all soul are in waiting for the End of Time. Here the waiting souls are rewarded or punished according to their deeds and wrongdoings in the "Living World"
    2. The End World. The Final Destination of all souls, where they'll end up in Heaven or Hell.

MarleeThanks for stopping by my way! I had to give this one a stab.

I have always said death is but a door to another adventure. Weather it is Heaven, Hell, Reincarnation, Summerland, etc we will find new worlds and if not we won't be conscience to know or feel the emptyness.

Personally I go the reincarnation kind of path where we live until we figure out the whole deal of why we are. Our souls have an age, how many reincanations. The karma thing doesn't feel right, no reason to be living a day as a shad fly.

Ghosts therefore are but an echo of people who were here, a conscience attached to something or someone. They aren't who but a part.

*rubs hands* Now Angels and Demons! There's something to chew on *wink* Angels: A protective force/energy that protects and shields a person from attacks and dangers. Often related to the Christian god as his warriors of good. To a witch binding or protection spells, to a new ager realignment of chackras, to an athiest a good feeling that all is good and nothing is going to go wrong.
Demons:Energies brought to mind as one would say I have my own demons to deal with. These energies tend to be active rather than to just be and protect. Bad feelings that fester in ones stomach, energies summoned to do biddings for a magician or chaote, a witches bad luck spell casted, a voodoo curse of demonic energy, etc.

To each path there is a different perception of the same energy used and manipulated by a person. Angels and demons then can be both good and bad depending on how you look at it. I think Arch Angel Micheal is a pretty nasty one *wink*

AndySue, I dropped by to say thank you for your kind words on my blog and I have to say, your own blog space is wonderful! I am adding it to my links - which you'll find under the enigmatically-entitled 'elsewhere' on my front page - and will be coming back. You write about many things I have long had a fascination for and extensive interest in. What a joy to find this place when I'm in such a place of grief and loss right now.

Thank you again for your kind words on the passing of my girl - I hate to use the word 'pet' because it's truly an inappropriate word, one which feels demeaning when talking about a creature that was a part of my life for 19 years. You and everyone else expressing kindness has been truly uplifting so far. x

NicolaI believe each soul has various tasks to fullfil and if they remain undone at the end of one life then we return in another to complete them in that.

Noah DuffyWell, I've finally settled on the idea that there is no after life. When we die, that's it.

As a kid, I loved watching documentaries on ghost hauntings. Of course, ghosts go against my belief of no after life, but I still find these reports interesting. I have a friend whom is convinced that he and his mother saw a ghost. It's not something he would lie about, so it makes me keep an open mind.

I'm an Atheist, so angels and demons are out of the picture. I like to just think of the life cycle as a part of nature -- something simple.
